Registered Nurse - Dialysis

Job Summary
Provides direct nursing care in dialysis settings, serving as a dialysis clinical resource and supervising care delivered by support staff. Assesses daily dialysis patient care needs, develops and distributes patient care assignments, collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure quality outcomes, and evaluates the effectiveness of dialysis treatments. Participates in quality improvement activities including data collection for the unit's QAPI plan and maintains regulatory compliance. Responds to patient care complaints and coordinates with internal and external resources for machine maintenance and home dialysis partnerships. Performs surveillance of dialysis water treatment equipment and water quality tests to ensure equipment operates per manufacturer guidelines. Demonstrates knowledge of dialysis laboratory tests, medications, cannulation of dialysis access, and central-line care. Maintains infection control practices to prevent transmission of blood-borne pathogens. Provides patient education related to medical conditions and may contribute to hiring, training, directing, developing, and evaluating staff. Applies evidence-based practice to nursing care, ensuring age- and clinically appropriate care. Works with vigilance toward safety and performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing
- Active RN license in Missouri or compact state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) provider certification - American Heart Association
