Job Summary

Provide nursing care to ensure patient safety by directing and assisting with safe aseptic and sterile techniques and procedures. Perform various tasks as a CVL circulator and recovery RN, assuming responsibility for preparing the Cath Lab room and verifying appropriate surgical prep. Assist in transporting patients, check records for pre-op preparation, and complete documentation for CVL records including medications and physician orders. Supervise and assist with proper patient positioning, perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts, and secure emergency equipment as needed. Provide assistance to teammates, physicians, and patient families while maintaining good communication skills that promote safe patient care.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Registered Nurse with Current State Licensure
  • Current BLS
  • Minimum of (5) year of continuous catheterization lab, ED, or PACU experience
  • Able to monitor, scrub, and/or circulate on all cath lab procedures including pacemaker, vascular, cardiac, IR and pain management procedures
  • Able to pre-op and recover patients undergoing all types of procedures
  • Able to provide direct patient care to the stable and acute patient
  • Proficient in interpreting EKG and hemodynamic tracings
  • Ability to manipulate various types of electronic and clinical equipment
  • Ability to calibrate and troubleshoot equipment
  • Ability to perform IV infusions
  • Ability to operate specialty equipment in the facility
  • Ability to perform tasks at a 'user' level
  • Must be able to communicate fluently in English, both verbally and in writing
  • Must be able to effectively communicate and interact with all patients, families, staff, and physicians
  • Must be sensitive to cultural and bilingual issues
  • Must be able to communicate in a clear and understandable manner appropriate to the age/developmental stage of the patient/visitor
  • Must be knowledgeable and possess the skills necessary to provide care specific to the age-related needs of the patient
  • Must be knowledgeable and possess the skills necessary to interpret data specific to the age group

Desired Qualifications

  • Current ACLS (must obtain within 90 days of hire)
  • Previous critical care experience
