Job Summary
Act as the first level of support for the bedside nursing team when patient conditions are in jeopardy, preventing clinical deterioration outside intensive care units. Lead initial assessments of critically ill patients, guiding the bedside team to direct care and facilitate rapid transitions to higher levels. Closely monitor patients recently transferred from ICU, utilizing EMR data to identify at-risk cases via Deterioration Index and Sepsis scores. Collect and maintain data on Rapid Response and Code episodes to drive process improvement, while participating in regional debriefs. Maintain constant alertness and apply evidence-based practice to ensure age-specific clinical needs are met. This part-time night role includes every third weekend rotation at MO-SSM Health St. Clare Hospital.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing
- Two years of registered nurse experience in critical care, emergency care or progressive care

- Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Registered Nurse (RN) Issued by Compact State
- Registered Nurse (RN) - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
- Constant use of speech to share information through oral communication
- Constant standing and walking
- Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs
- Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry
- Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish colors
- Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors
- Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc
- Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs
- Occasional lifting/moving of patients
- Occasional bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements
- Occasional driving
