Job Summary
Assess the patient's physical and psychosocial condition on an ongoing basis and develop a plan of care reflecting individualized patient problems and interventions. Implement and coordinate this plan in collaboration with the healthcare team, evaluate effectiveness, and revise as needed. Perform pharyngeal, endotracheal, and tracheostomy suctioning; manage airway care for tracheated patients; and assist physicians during special neuro procedures. Demonstrate competency in neuro patient care, including halo brace usage and ventilator interventions. Function as a preceptor to new staff and serve as a charge nurse when assuming that role. Requires 1 year of Neonatal ICU RN experience, a BSN preferred, and a valid Connecticut RN license with BLS certification. Float pool availability across nursing units.

- Assesses, Plans, Implements, Evaluates And Supervises Individual Patient Care On A Nursing Unit/Department According To Unit Policies And Procedures
- Provides Supervision Of Non-Rn Personnel On The Assigned Unit
- May Be Requires To Work On Other Nursing Units According To Distribution Of Staff And Patients
- Assesses The Patient's Physical And Psychosocial Condition On An Ongoing Basis Throughout The Continuum Of Care
- Develops, Communicates And Documents A Plan Of Care Reflecting Individualized Patient Problems And Interventions To Achieve Desired Outcomes, Involving The Patient, Family And Healthcare Team In This Process
- Implements And Coordinates This Plan Of Care In Collaboration With The Healthcare Team
- Evaluates The Effectiveness Of The Plan Of Care, Patient?S Response To Care, And Readiness For Discharge. Revises The Plan Of Care As Needed And Makes Referrals Where Indicated
- Plans For Education After Assessing The Individual Learning Needs And Readiness Of The Patient And Family. Provides Educational Opportunities And Documents Outcomes
- Functions As A Preceptor To New Staff
- Functions As A Charge Nurse
- Demonstrates Competency In The Care Of The Neuro Patient
- Demonstrates Skill And Knowledge In Neuro Assessment
