Job Summary
Deliver evidence-based patient care to adult and critical care patients while utilizing the nursing process to analyze conditions and implement plans. Prioritize patient needs, recognize adverse conditions, and notify physicians appropriately. Operate assigned equipment safely, maintain competency in critical care skills, and collaborate with the healthcare team to achieve optimal outcomes. Participate in unit meetings, decision-making, and quality initiatives; act as a preceptor for new hires and assume the charge nurse role when needed. Adhere to hospital compliance standards and foster constructive partnerships with peers and disciplines.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited or approved school of nursing
- Current RN License for the state of IL
- One year of medical surgical or critical care experience
- Knowledge of current nursing practices
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- ACLS certification within 90 days of hire
- Ability to effectively assume the charge nurse role
- Ability to effectively assume the preceptor role for new hired RNs
- Ability to effectively assume a leadership role in quality initiatives
- Ability to effectively assume a role model function for novice nurses
