Job Summary
Manage individualized, goal-directed nursing care through the nursing process and primary nursing principles across pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-anesthesia phases. Assess patient status on admission and continuously, developing and implementing care plans while administering safe, quality interventions to ill, injured, or disabled patients. Coordinate with the healthcare team to evaluate patient outcomes, monitor vital signs, and ensure readiness for discharge. Operate specialized surgical equipment, perform aseptic techniques, and respond promptly to clinical emergencies including anaphylaxis and cardiac arrest. Provide pre- and post-operative education, update medication profiles, and document all medical information accurately.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing program
- Successful completion of an accredited Registered Nursing program, ASN/BSN
- Current state registration as a Registered Nurse
- BLS certified or obtain certification within three months of hire
- ACLS certified or obtain certification within the first year of hire
- For OR/Procedure circulating, ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Ability to independently apply skills and job knowledge within the nursing scope of practice and with provider supervision
- Strong organizational, judgment, communication and analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and perform multiple priorities
- Cooperative and professional behavior toward patients, peers, providers, management and visitors
- Demonstrates emotional intelligence, situational awareness, and the ability to synthesize information to draw sound clinical conclusions
- Ability to promote favorable facility image with patients, providers, insurance companies and general public
- Ability to independently make decisions and solve problems
- Evidence of leadership qualities by contributing to a team environment and maintaining excellent customer service
- Evidence of positively contributing to surgery center growth and safety by effectively communicating observed or potential safety concerns and areas of improvement in current processes and attending QAPI meetings when able
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Driving may be required when working in clinic roles
Desired Qualifications
- Perioperative, OR, or ambulatory surgery nursing experience preferred
- Experience with EMR (NextGen/ECW) preferred
