Job Summary
Utilize the nursing process to provide patient care on the General Surgery Medical-Surgical inpatient unit while maintaining professional accountability for assigned patients. Evaluate the effectiveness of care provided by other direct care givers and coordinate patient care in conjunction with other departments. Maintain patient rights and confidentiality of patient information while performing duties consistent with Mercy's mission, values, and service standards. Work a full-time day shift (7:00 AM-7:00 PM) with a 36-hour weekly schedule. Hold a current Missouri RN license and BLS certification, with a BSN preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with one of the following: Associate Degree in Nursing, Nursing Diploma, or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Must hold and maintain a current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Missouri or possess compact licensure, in accordance with state board of nursing regulations
- Previous hospital experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association, or completion within 30 days of hire
- Ability to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs regularly
- Ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat as needed to perform nursing duties
Desired Qualifications

- Additional state licensure or specialty certifications
- Prior experience in specialty area or similar clinical setting
