Job Summary
The Registered Nurse is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating individuals with mental health and medical conditions. Duties include conducting thorough nursing assessments, monitoring vital signs, administering injections, and coordinating integrated care with other healthcare providers. Candidates must possess an Associate degree in Nursing and a current RN license in Michigan. Prior clinical experience, CPR and BLS certification, and proficiency with EHRs are essential. The role demands strong communication, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Associate degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
- Current, unrestricted, State of Michigan Registered Nurse (RN) licensure
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Basic Life Saving (BLS) certification
- Valid and unrestricted Michigan Driver’s License
- Reliable transportation and current proof of auto insurance
- Prior clinical experience and demonstrated proficiency in providing clinical and nursing services including, but not limited to: collecting vitals, performing injections, and point of care testing
- Prior clinical experience and demonstrated proficiency in medical management, crisis, and behavior management techniques
- Working knowledge of medical terminology used in a mental health setting
- Experience with the application of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) in health care organizations
- Proficient with computers and Microsoft office products
- Proficient in the use of electronic health records (EHRs)
- Ability to use discretion and judgment when handling matters of a sensitive or confidential nature
- Advanced time management, problem solving, customer service, interpersonal, conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to be forward thinking and take initiative to accomplish goals and objectives of the department
- Ability to work in a fast-paced office environment with the usual pressures of managing multiple priorities with time constraints
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, and courteously
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing
- At least 1 year of experience as a registered nurse providing face-to-face, clinical services in any of the following settings: Behavioral Health, Community Mental Health, Psychiatric Hospital, State facility, Ambulatory Behavioral Health, Crisis Center, Substance Use Facility, Partial Hospital Program, Residential Program, or similar
- Use of health registries including the Michigan Automated Prescription System (MAPS), PMP AWARxE Program, Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PDMP)
- Ability to work well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
- General knowledge of the community mental health system based on the Michigan Mental Health Code and MDHHS contract
