Job Summary
Assess, manage, and direct nursing care for abdominal transplant patients, including comprehensive admission and post-operative reassessments. Establish and evaluate care plans based on patient data, physician orders, and evidence-based protocols. Administer medications, monitor IV fluids and parenteral nutrition, and coordinate handoff communications with the health team. Provide specialized care for high-risk patients, manage pain, and address abuse assessment needs while maintaining strict infection control standards. Educate patients and families on discharge planning and involve them in decision-making throughout hospitalization.
Required Qualifications
- Current license and certifications
- Up to date BLS and HI
- Annual TB Screening and Influenza vaccination
- Annual Ethics Training (Initial Ethics, if new employee)
- Annual Safety Training
- Required Information Security course
- Required Abuse & Neglect course
- Annual Blood Borne Pathogens training (if required)
- Coursework as assigned for .edu
- Annual competency
- Age/Population specific competency (if applicable)
- Orientation competency (new hire)
- Service Specific competency
- Ability to assess and interpret age specific data to identify patient needs
- Demonstrates knowledge and skills of normal growth & development necessary to provide services to the age of the patient served by the department
- Utilizes communication skills necessary to interpret age specific responses to service and interaction
- Involves family or significant other in decision making related to services provided
- Demonstrates ability to provide service needed for the age groups routinely served by the department assigned

- Attends staff meetings/reviews minutes when absent
