Job Summary
Registered Nurse Circulator in the Main OR (PRN – Days). Plans, implements, and evaluates surgical patient care, supports sterile technique and aseptic practices, manages equipment and supplies, and collaborates with the health-care team to maintain a sterile field and timely patient care. Requires Tennessee RN licensure, a nursing diploma/degree, BLS within 90 days, on-call responsiveness within 30 minutes, and prior perioperative experience across multiple surgical specialties. The role involves prolonged standing (up to 12 hours), lifting/moving up to 250 lbs with assistance, and contributing to patient care plans and staff development.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed by the State of Tennessee
- Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university
- BLS within 90 days of hire
- Must respond to hospital within thirty minutes for on call requirements
- Previous Surgery experience
- Perioperative Care experience
- Ability to work under pressure and to function both dependently and independently
- Experience with perioperative equipment and diverse surgical specialties (general, AEM; genitourinary; ophthalmologic/Phacoemulsification/I&A; plastic; orthopedic; ENT; obstetric/gynecologic; vascular; oral)
- Knowledge of sterile technique and aseptic practices; ability to maintain sterile field
- Record-keeping and medication handling per policies; ability to lift and move patients/equipment as required
- English language proficiency (oral and written)
- Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 12 hours)
- Desire to support staff development and training of co-workers
