Job Summary
Prepare patients for surgical procedures and maintain sterile fields by working side by side with scrub nurses and surgeons. Assess patient conditions before and during surgery while collaborating with physicians and anesthesiologists to develop care plans. Remove instruments and sponges as used, dispense supplies and medication, handle specimens, and ensure precise documentation throughout the procedure. Adhere to Round Rock Surgery Center policies and maintain patient safety in the operating room environment. Requires current Texas licensure, BLS, and two years of perioperative nursing experience. Reports directly to the Director of Nursing and Administrator.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
- Current licensure to practice in the State of Texas
- Successful completion of Basic Cardiac Life Support Course
- ALCS required
- Good visual acuity
- Accurate color vision
- Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds
- Ability to push, pull and utilize a full range of body movement
- Ability to push a gurney with a 150-pound patient on it
- Ability to stand, walk, stop, kneel, crouch and/or crawl
- Ability to reach, grasp, use fine finger movement
- Ability to feel fine sensation to discern temperature, texture, size and shape
- Ability to lift 25-pound instrument trays
- Ability to push heavy equipment on wheels within the OR suite
- Ability to wear lead apron
- Must be able to work as scheduled
Desired Qualifications
- PALS preferred
- Two years' experience in perioperative nursing preferred
