Job Summary
RN Charge Nurse provides leadership and clinical expertise on the night shift in the ICU, coordinating unit resources to ensure appropriate staffing and care delivery. Leads the interdisciplinary care team, delegates tasks, and ensures the plan of care aligns with guidelines and licensure requirements. Demonstrates clinical proficiency in assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while mentoring staff, maintaining professional standards, and ensuring safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. Requires active RN licensure, BLS, and unit-specific certifications; BSN is required with a four-year trajectory to obtain the degree if not already held. Night shift focus, strong collaboration with families and care teams, and performance in a fast-paced critical care environment are emphasized.
Required Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers
- Unit Specific Certification as required (i.e., ACLS, PALS, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
- Experience in assigned clinical area
- Mentoring experience
- Registered Nurses (RNs) hired or promoted into this role must obtain their BSN within four years of hire or promotion date
Desired Qualifications
- BSN or higher
- RN license in state of practice
- BLS certification
