Job Summary
Deliver individualized nursing care to inmate patients according to nursing protocols. Perform assessments in various correctional settings, including intake, health care units, emergency situations, chronic care clinics, and medical units. Collaborate with primary care providers and interdisciplinary teams to ensure timely, appropriate, and continuous care. Administer medications, treatments, and therapeutic interventions as prescribed. Monitor and report reactions to treatments, medications, and changes in physical or emotional status. Provide patient education, including medication guidance, self-care instructions, and discharge planning. Maintain accurate, timely, and complete patient documentation in appropriate formats. Promote a therapeutic and professional environment for inmates. Adhere to infection control policies, medication administration standards, and regulatory guidelines. Participate in ongoing staff development, training, and quality improvement initiatives. Perform additional duties as assigned based on facility needs.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of employment
- Minimum Work Experience: Clinical experience as a Registered Nurse
- Previous experience in a correctional healthcare environment preferred
- Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills
- Basic computer proficiency
- Ability to pass health and security screenings
- On-call availability may be required
