Registered Nurse - Casual (Evening & Night)

Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and monitor residents' safety while administering medications and performing direct care tasks such as toileting, dressing, and feeding. Maintain and update nursing assessment records, care plans, and medication administration records. Report symptoms to physicians and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team during care conferences to recommend interventions and develop resident care plans. Direct activities of non-professional staff and coordinate health care team operations. Work evening (15:00-23:00) and night (23:00-07:00) shifts in a geriatric long-term care setting.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized nursing program
- Current practicing registration with the Registered Nurses Association of British Columbia or Registered Psychiatric Nurses Association of British Columbia
- Minimum two (2) years' nursing experience
- Demonstrated ability, as a team leader, to direct the activities of non-professional staff and co-ordinate activities of the health care team
- Confident and professional in their manner
- Physically able to carry out the duties of the position including performing moderately heavy work involving transferring of residents, walking, stooping and standing
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
- Ability to operate related equipment
- Ability to deal effectively with others
- Availability to work Evening (15:00-23:00) and Night Shifts (23:00-07:00)

- preferably in a geriatric setting and long term care experience
- Special interest in and concern for the welfare and care of the elderly
- Personal beliefs about nursing congruent with philosophy of the department and the facility
