Job Summary
Conduct initial nursing assessments and ensure all 45-day reviews are completed for individuals in residential and day programs. Provide medical care, administer medications, and monitor Medication Administration Records to ensure compliance with regulations. Train direct service staff on physical and medical procedures, including gastrostomy feeding and ostomy care, while supervising the LPN. Review incident reports, contact physicians during emergencies, and visit assigned locations monthly to verify care consistency. Provide on-call support for residential staff and address medical emergencies as needed. Maintain accurate medical records and attend Individual Plan meetings as necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland
- Current Maryland nursing license
- On-call rotation availability
- Valid State of Maryland Department of Motor Vehicles Class C Driver's License
- Valid Driver's License with no restrictions
- Motor Vehicle Record with 2 or less points, with no driving restrictions or DUI violations in the last 7 years
- Ability to lift 50 Lbs. unassisted
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- COVID-19 Vaccine
- Must successfully complete all agency designated training within first ninety (90) days of employment
- Maintain current RN certification
- Must attend in-service training as required
- Must have a working knowledge of relevant COMAR Regulations
- Must be able to demonstrate skills in problem solving
- Must be able to demonstrate skills in project/task management
- Must be able to demonstrate skills in time management
- Must be able to demonstrate skills in dependability
- Must be able to demonstrate skills in good judgment
- Must be able to demonstrate skills in safe work practices
- Flexibility of scheduling to meet Agency and program needs
- Must be available for weekend on-call rotation
- Must be available for emergency situations
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to write reports and complete forms or other documents as required
- Ability to communicate with others including individuals in Unified programs, family members, medical professionals, and co-workers
- Must be willing to assist with individuals needs, including, but not limited to feeding, dressing, toileting and hygiene assistance
- Must be able to utilize proper body mechanics and safe work practices while assisting with transfers of individuals of varying weight and physical needs
