Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care within the cardiovascular operating room using the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Direct the care team through delegation and coordination while managing time, supplies, and resources to ensure safe patient outcomes. Provide accurate documentation, maintain legal and ethical standards, and revise care plans based on clinical responses and patient satisfaction. Work 4x10-hour shifts with mandatory call coverage, weekend on-call, and holiday rotations. Requires a BSN, current RN license, and BLS certification.
Required Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice
- Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients
- Obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment
- Pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment
- Including heavy items
- Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms
- Full of equipment, power cords on the floor
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
- 4x10-Hour Shifts: 6:45 AM - 5:15 PM
- Option for 3x12-Hour Shifts: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM (must have additional skills outside of CVOR to qualify)
- Call Required
- 30-Minute Call Back Time
- Holiday Call Coverage Required
- Weekend Shifts: On-Call Only
- In-House Shifts: Weekdays Only
