Job Summary
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care for cardiovascular surgery patients using the nursing process, evidence-based practice, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Direct the care team through delegation and coordination while setting priorities to manage time, supplies, and resources effectively. Provide accurate documentation, ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards, and revise care plans based on patient response and clinical outcomes. Requires a BSN, current RN license, and BLS certification. Schedule includes 4x10-hour shifts with mandatory call coverage and weekend on-call duties.
Required Qualifications
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice
- Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment
- Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is required as of the job description's last update on 4/27/2025
- RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
- Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
- Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
- Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items
- Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients
- Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms
- May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
- Expected to drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles
- 4x10-Hour Shifts: 6:45 AM - 5:15 PM
- Option for 3x12-Hour Shifts: 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM (must have additional skills outside of CVOR to qualify)
- Call Required
- 30-Minute Call Back Time
- Holiday Call Coverage Required
- Weekend Shifts: On-Call Only
- In-House Shifts: Weekdays Only
