Job Summary
Assess, intervene, educate, and advocate for patients in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit while supporting the Person-Centred Care philosophy. Manage primary care duties including hemodynamic equipment monitoring, critical thinking regarding cardio-pulmonary systems, and independent function within a multidisciplinary team. Maintain current Ontario College of Nurses registration, BCLS certification, and ACLS certification, with a demonstrated commitment to continuing education in cardiovascular specialties and organizational initiatives. Complete the CVICU entrance quiz and participate in quality improvement projects and nursing council activities.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses
- Current BCLS certificate
- Must have ICU & CVICU experience
- Successful completion of the CVICU entrance quiz
- Demonstrated commitment to continuing education within the past two (2) years with emphasis placed on courses/conferences related to cardiovascular care specialties
- Demonstrated commitment to organizational initiatives, such as completion of the Patient Centred Care Course and participation in nursing council, unit committees and quality improvement projects
- Demonstrated effective ability in: interpersonal relationships; oral and written communication skills; organization skills; priority setting skills; problem solving; decision making; facilitating team work; conflict resolution
- Possesses intellectual skills for problem-solving, critical thinking and ability to integrate knowledge of physiological principle involving multiple organ systems with emphasis on cardio-pulmonary
- Adept in use of haemodynamic equipment
- Ability to function independently and as a part of the multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated commitment to Person-Centred Care approach and principles
Desired Qualifications
- Current ACLS certificate preferred
- Baccalaureate degree in Nursing preferred
