Job Summary
Registered Nurse in Cardiology/Cardiac ICU/Heart Failure units providing comprehensive patient care across the continuum. Responsibilities include assessing patients, developing and communicating plans of care, coordinating with the healthcare team, educating patients and families, serving as preceptor to new staff and as charge nurse, and applying specialized skills in neuro assessment, airway/ventilator management, tracheostomy care, and post-operative cardiac care. The role supports a fast-paced cardiac ICU environment with exposure to advanced therapies and devices, unit-based policies, and ongoing professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- Current Connecticut RN license
- BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire
- Clinical specialty certification encouraged
- Experience in neuro assessment and neuro procedures
- Ability to precept and function as charge nurse
- Demonstrated competency in airway management and ventilated patients
- Ability to provide patient and family education
- Compliance with Nurse Practice Act standards
- Accountability to professional standards and performance expectations
