Job Summary
Provide bedside nursing care in the Cardiac ICU/CTICU/Cardiovascular units, assess patients' physical and psychosocial condition, develop and document individualized plans of care, implement and coordinate care with the healthcare team, and reevaluate patient progress. Functions include supervising non-RN personnel, acting as charge nurse, and serving as a preceptor to new staff. Demonstrates skills in neuro assessment, airway management, tracheostomy suctioning, ventilator care, and care for patients with heart failure, post-operative cardiac surgery, and complex vascular conditions. Role involves education of patients and families, discharge planning, and collaboration to ensure high-quality care across cardiac services.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
- BSN preferred
- Licensed and currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut
- Basic life support (BCLS) certification or ability to obtain within one month of hire
- Clinical specialty certification encouraged
