Job Summary
Conduct telephone triage, health education, and care coordination for patients of all ages using established clinical protocols. Perform systematic assessments of physiological, psychological, and cognitive status while managing crisis interventions and physician referrals. Document health information accurately in electronic medical records and provide resource referrals based on expressed patient needs. Maintain awareness of legal issues in telehealth practice and ensure continuity of care through collaboration with providers and clinic teams. Work flexible evening shifts (3pm–11pm or 4pm–12am) rotating weekends and holidays, requiring unencumbered RN licensure and BLS/ACLS/PALS certifications. Utilize clinical judgment to guide patients to appropriate levels of care within the Sanford Health virtual care initiative.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience
- Currently holds an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where the practice of nursing is occurring and/or possess multistate licensure if in a Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) state
- Nurses performing nursing practice over the telephone require licensure in the states where the patients being served reside
- Any additional state licensure requirements must be obtained within first 30 days of employment
- Needs and maintains Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Obtains and subsequently maintains additional required department specific competencies and certifications
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Every other Fri, Sat,& Sun
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in nursing preferred
- Graduate from an accredited nursing program preferred, including, but not limited to, American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA)
