Job Summary
Conduct comprehensive initial and ongoing assessments to develop and update individualized patient care plans for oncology infusions. Administer prescribed chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and specialty medications while verifying orders through independent double-check processes. Maintain venous access devices, perform punctures, and educate patients on self-monitoring, pain management, and treatment protocols. Monitor patients pre, during, and post-infusion for adverse reactions, ensuring strict adherence to infection control and aseptic techniques. Collaborate with physicians and pharmacists to obtain orders, re-evaluate care needs, and document all communications and clinical changes accurately.
Required Qualifications
- Current, active and in good standing registered nurse license in the state of employment
- Current BLS
- Current ONS Provider Card
- Valid Driver's License and Insurance
- Submit to a background check
- Minimum 2 years oncology infusion experience required
- Previous outpatient infusion center experience required
- Able to walk, kneel, transfer without assist and being able to assist patients to do same
- Able to manage weights over 100 pounds safely, such as patient partial transfer assist
- Vision and hearing within normal limits
- Hand dexterity and strength sufficient to manipulate keyboard, access vials start IV's, program pumps, etc.
Desired Qualifications
- Membership or affiliation with an association for infusion nurses preferred
