Job Summary
Provide professional nursing care for SIH patients in designated units (ICU/Progressive Care/Stepdown/Cardiac/Perinatal). Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs; establish a compassionate environment to support patients and families; plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care with the multidisciplinary team; deliver health teaching and counseling to promote health; exercise clinical judgment and critical thinking to recognize and report changes in patient condition; complete accurate documentation in the medical record; contribute to policy/procedure development to enhance patient safety and quality of care; supervise licensed practical nurses and unlicensed assistive personnel as needed; float to other SIH nursing units within competency; advocate for patients through collaboration with health service professionals; maintain licensure and complete required education and competencies; participate in a tobacco-free workplace. Compensation ranges from $31.25 to $49.06 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Required Qualifications
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Current CPR/BLS Card
- Current ACLS card (within 6 months of hire)
- ACLS & PALS within 6 months or as specified
- TNCC or TNS (within 1 year of hire)
- ECRN within 24 months
- NRP within 6 months
- PALS within 6 months
- Fetal Monitoring – Monitoring & NRP within 6 months
- Neonatal Care experience would be beneficial
- Education: Associate, Diploma, Bachelor’s degree or Master’s in Nursing
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in nursing across ICU, Progressive Care, Stepdown ICU, Cardiac Services, and Neonatal/Perinatal units
- ACLS, PALS, TNCC or TNS as required within specified timelines
- ECRN within 24 months of hire or residency graduation
- Fetal Monitoring, NRP certification/experience
- CPR/BLS certification current
- Illinois Registered Nurse license
- Ability to assess, plan, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with multidisciplinary team
- Strong documentation and patient education skills
- Float to other SIH nursing units within competency
- Ability to provide compassionate support to patients and families
- Experience with electronic medical records and adherence to policies and quality care standards
- Experience in cardiac and interventional services is a plus
- Ability to provide clinical judgment and critical thinking in patient condition changes
- Phlebotomy/related programs familiarity is a plus
- TNCC or TNS (within 1 year of hire) as applicable
- Ability to work day shift and adapt to a fast-paced hospital environment
