Job Summary
Registered Nurse providing direct patient care in a physician practice with responsibilities including assisting with patient calls/triage, communicating diagnostic results and scheduled appointments, pre-screening test results, administering medications and IVs, conducting wound care and dressings, managing anticoagulation, giving injections and ECGs, patient and family teaching on medications and disease management, and coordinating with the health care team. Responsibilities encompass maintaining patient records, ensuring confidentiality, supporting administrative tasks related to nursing home and home-care patients, and contributing to cost-effective resource utilization. Requires current Rhode Island nursing licensure, BLS and ACLS (within six months), and 2-3 years of cardiology-related nursing experience; familiarity with stress testing and ECG interpretation is preferred. The role operates in a Rhode Island Hospital setting within Brown University Health and adheres to organization values of Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a school of nursing; Baccalaureate in Nursing preferred
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island
- Conformity to the Code of Professional Nurses
- Understanding of aging processes and cultural patterns in care
- Basic Life Support certification
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification (may obtain within six months of hire)
- 2-3 years’ progressively responsible experience as a RN in a patient care environment with cardiology experience
- Experience with cardiac stress testing preferred
