Job Summary
Registered Nurse for Birthing SuiteProviding triage and care to pregnant patients through labour and birth including vaginal and Caesarean deliveries, recovery of the Caesarean mother, and maternal/newborn care within the LBRP model. Requires strong patient-centered care, excellent communication, ability to manage evolving clinical needs, and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. Rotating 12-hour shifts (days and nights) with in-person requirement at Oakville, Ontario. Must hold current Ontario RN registration, BLS, NRP, OB OR credentials or experience, and related obstetric/perinatal certifications as outlined. Vaccination/compliance with immunization policies and pre-employment medical clearance are required.
Required Qualifications
- Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current Heart & Stroke approved Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire
- Minimum of 2 years recent experience in Obstetrics (including intra-partum care) required
- Current Obstetric O.R. certificate and/or experience required
- Perinatal Nursing Certificate an asset
- Proficiency in venipuncture and IVs
- Current Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification required
- Current Fetal Health Surveillance course
- Competency with vaginal exams during labour
- Breastfeeding certificate required
- Demonstrated ability to assist and support breastfeeding
- Demonstrated commitment to family centered care
- Dedication to continuing education
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
