Job Summary
Assess patient and donor medical history, perform donor screenings, and monitor real-time visual assessment of blood layer separation to guide apheresis procedures. Implement and evaluate patient care plans while educating families on disease processes, side effects, and symptom management. Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure continuity of care and refer patients to appropriate resources. Accept rotating on-call assignments for evenings, weekends, and holidays, with the ability to push wheeled machines. Requires current Washington State RN license, BLS certification, and color vision screening.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate from an accredited school of nursing
- Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license or current NLC multistate license (MSL)
- MSL primary state of residence must be updated to WA within 60 days of hire
- Current BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years
- Critical thinking; the ability to practice the cognitive skills of analyzing, applying standards, discriminating, information seeking, logical reasoning, predicting, and transforming knowledge
- Ability to develop clinical judgment
- Time Management skills; the ability to organize and manage time and tasks independently
- Ability to communicate effectively by looking and listening for cues, asking open-ended questions, exploring cues, using pauses, screening responses, and clarifying response
- Ability to effectively listen by using reflecting, acknowledging, summarizing, empathizing, and paraphrasing skill
- Ability to effectively provide information by checking what information the person knows already, giving small amounts of information at a time, using clear terms and avoiding jargon, avoiding detail unless it is requested, checking for understanding, and pausing and waiting for a response
- Builds therapeutic and trusting relationships with patients, families, and caregivers through effective communication and listening skills
- Must be able to differentiate between colors and pass a standardized color vision screen test to perform this role
- Ability to work in different clinical care locations (involves the ability to push/pull >40-pound wheeled machines)
- Accepts rotating on-call assignment for evenings, weekends and holidays
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Two years of nursing experience preferred
