Job Summary
Perform autonomous therapeutic apheresis procedures in critical care, emergency, and outpatient settings, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, and stem cell harvests. Execute venipunctures, manage central venous catheter access, and assess patient status using laboratory results and the nursing process. Coordinate treatments with physicians across multiple hospital sites, evaluate medication compatibility, and consult external healthcare personnel on clinical apheresis. Assemble, restock, and maintain equipment to ensure a safe work environment. Variable first shift Monday to Friday with rotating on-call duties. Full COVID-19 vaccination required by start date.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing, OR-related experience
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- Operational flexibility to meet sudden and unpredictable needs
- Ability to use a wide variety of lab or medical equipment
- Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for sustained periods of time
- Vaccination against COVID-19
