Job Summary
Perform Apheresis procedures autonomously in critical care, emergency rooms, and outpatient centers, including plasma exchange, red cell exchange, leukapheresis, stem cell harvests, photopheresis, and therapeutic phlebotomies. Assess patient status relative to therapeutic apheresis, coordinate closely with physicians to arrange treatments, and act as a consultant to external health care personnel. Perform venipunctures, access central venous catheters, and assemble, restock, and maintain supplies and equipment. Variable 1st shift Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with rotating on-call requirements. No prior apheresis experience required; comprehensive training provided. Fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by start date.
Required Qualifications
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse
- CPR certification
- Bachelor's degree OR a combination of education and work experience
- Two years of experience in medical/surgical or critical care nursing, OR-related experience
- Good vein selection and venipuncture skills
- Good verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss procedures and medical issues with patients, families, and physicians
- A current, valid driver's license
- A good driving record
- COVID-19 vaccination (or approved exemption process)
