Job Summary
Interview surgical patients, coordinate patient care, and clear charts for surgery while developing care plans through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Perform pre-operative tasks including reviewing instructions, assigning arrival times, obtaining documentation, and ensuring chart completion. Collaborate with anesthesia to clear patients, maintain patient safety and comfort, and solve problems tactfully in a stressful environment. Requires strong clinical knowledge, critical thinking, and experience with electronic medical records. Full-time days position with floating to Pre/Post-op.
Required Qualifications
- Operating Room experience
- Associates degree or Diploma in Nursing
- Current State of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse Licensure
- OR-BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing
- Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing
- Experience with electronic medical record (EMR)
- Advanced computer skills
- Familiar with medical terminology and knowledge of basic surgical procedures
- Effective time management and ability to work independently
- Ability to organize and prioritize, and problem solve
- Strong critical thinking skills and decisive judgement
- Prior Epic experience
- Triage, critical care, ED, or surgical patient experience
