Job Summary
Coordinate nursing and other services for residents within the neighbourhood and with other services within the residence; lead shift report with health care team members; document significant changes in residents’ condition and ensure chart documentation adheres to policies and Standards of Practice; review physician orders and implement them promptly; communicate any difficulties with processing orders to the Director of Care/Assistant Director of Care; requires a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and current registration in good standing with provincial registry; knowledge of geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing and applicable statutes; a focus on resident safety, teamwork, and quality of care.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Registration in good standing with provincial registry
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations, Health Disciplines Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Pharmacy Act, Food and Drugs Act (Canada), Controlled Substances Act (Canada), Health Promotion and Protection Act, Personal Health Protection Act, Coroners Act, Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice
- Ability to coordinate nursing and services for residents, lead shift reports, document changes per policy, process physician orders, communicate difficulties to leadership
- Experience in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing
- Commitment to patient safety and ethical professional nursing services
- Teamwork and communication skills
- Ability to apply laws and standards relevant to nursing practice
- Union membership is a condition of employment (as stated)
- Hours of Work schedule provided
