Job Summary
Coordinate nursing and other services for residents within the neighbourhood and with external services. Lead shift reports with the healthcare team to ensure all members are informed of changes in residents' status. Review and process physician orders promptly, communicating difficulties immediately to the Director of Care. Record significant changes in residents' condition and ensure chart documentation adheres to AgeCare policies and provincial standards. Promote a culture of resident safety, freedom from harm, and health awareness while collaborating with the Director of Care on individual care needs. This role supports AgeCare's mission of providing high-quality, home-like care across communities in Alberta, BC, and Ontario.
Required Qualifications
- Sound knowledge and background in geriatric, rehabilitation or long-term care nursing including activation, nursing, and personnel administration
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
- Knowledge of the Fixing Long-Term Care Act and Regulations
- Knowledge of the appropriate sections of the Health Disciplines Act
- Knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of the Pharmacy Act
- Knowledge of the Food and Drugs Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Controlled Substances Act (Canada)
- Knowledge of the Health Promotion and Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Personal Health Protection Act
- Knowledge of the Coroners Act
- Knowledge of Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice
- Knowledge of other pertinent Federal, Provincial and Municipal Statues which influence the operation of the Nursing Home and more specifically the nursing department
- Registration and membership in good standing with provincial registry
- Ability to collaborate on the delivery of resident care to meet individual needs within his/her level of competency
- Ability to integrate and apply the knowledge, skills, judgment, and interpersonal attributes required to provide safe and ethical professional nursing services to residents
- Ability to provide quality and safe resident care
- Ability to promote teamwork and a culture that supports AgeCare Mission, Vision and Guiding Principles of Respect, Teamwork, Quality
- Ability to encourage practices that respect resident, family and staff rights, individuality, and diversity
- Ability to promote health and safety awareness in the workplace

- Ability to coordinate nursing and other services for the residents within the neighbourhood and with other services within the residence
- Ability to lead shift report with members of the health care team, ensuring that all team members are informed of changes in residents' status
- Ability to record significant changes in residents' condition
- Ability to ensure documentation in the residents' chart adheres to AgeCare policies and procedures and Provincial College of Nurses and Standards of Practice
- Ability to review and process physician orders as per procedure, ensuring orders are implemented as soon as possible
- Ability to immediately communicate difficulties in processing physician orders to the Director of Care/Assistant Director of Care
