Registered Nurse, Acute Surgical Stepdown, Nights - VUH

Apply the nursing process to plan and implement care for adult patients awaiting surgery or recovering post-operatively in the new 31-bed Acute Surgical Stepdown unit. Collaborate with the health care team to establish patient goals, evaluate progress, and provide patient and family education while anticipating care needs across the continuum. Conduct primary care interviews, physical examinations, and evidence-based practice activities to ensure effective outcomes and a safe environment. Work three 12-hour shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. per week, including some weekends and two call shifts in a six-week period. Help build the new unit and shape its team culture from the ground up.
