Job Summary

Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care of patients on the Acuity Adaptable med-surg to step-down unit using the nursing process and evidence-based practice. Direct the interdisciplinary care team through delegation and collaboration while managing priorities, supplies, and resources to coordinate patient care delivery. Provide therapeutic interventions and education, actively seeking involvement from patients, families, and physicians to develop individualized care plans and prepare for discharge or follow-up. Evaluate patient responses to interventions, revise care plans as needed, and ensure accurate, timely documentation of all clinical activities. Perform physical assessments of physical, social, and psychological status, including cognitive and developmental skills, while complying with legal and ethical standards. Work night shifts including weekends and holidays, requiring the ability to navigate crowded rooms, ambulate patients, and operate medical equipment with precision.

Required Qualifications

  • Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in state of practice
  • Valid compact licenses must be transferred to the state of practice within 60 days of the start of employment
  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Night shift
  • Weekend requirements
  • Holiday requirements
  • See and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies
  • Verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately
  • Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy
  • Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients
  • Bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment
  • Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients
  • Push/pull gurneys and portable equipment
  • Navigate crowded and busy rooms
  • Stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Drive a vehicle which requires sitting, seeing and reading signs, traffic signals, and other vehicles

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in nursing (BSN). Education must be obtained from an accredited institution. Degree will be verified
  • RNs with less than 12 months of experience must obtain their Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) within four (4) years of their hire date
