Job Summary
Assess, diagnose, and implement individualized care plans for patients across inpatient, surgical, emergency, and pain services units. Coordinate nursing care by delegating tasks to licensed and unlicensed personnel, monitoring patient conditions, and collaborating with providers to address clinical changes. Deliver direct patient care including preoperative teaching, medical screenings, and procedural assistance while utilizing evidence-based research to guide practice decisions. Mentor staff members, contribute to departmental committees, and lead unit operations by anticipating staffing needs and resolving operational issues. Document care accurately at the point of care and complete reflective journal notes.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
- Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in Iowa
- Must be able to read, speak, and write fluent English
- Ability to learn and navigate computer systems including the online training modules, the employee timesheet and the performance appraisal system
- Job specific systems knowledge
- Sitting – Approximately 25% of shift
- Standing– Approximately 50% of shift
- Walking – Approximately 50% of shift
- Lifting – Approximately 35 pounds
- Proper body mechanics and ergonomics
- Use of lifting/moving devices
- Twisting – Infrequent
- Bending – Moderate
- Squat/Kneel – Approximately 25% of shift
Desired Qualifications
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing
