Job Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) position requires clinical competencies in an outpatient surgical setting. Core responsibilities include conducting preoperative assessments, educating patients, maintaining records, assisting in the operating room, evaluating postoperative recovery, managing pain, and ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative encounter. Essential qualifications include an ADN or BSN degree, active RN licensure in Maine, BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Preferred experience includes ambulatory surgery roles and proficiency in EMR systems. The role emphasizes teamwork, compliance with safety guidelines, and a commitment to high-quality patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Unencumbered active Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Maine
- BLS required
- ACLS and PALS required within 6 months of hire
- ADN or BSN from an accredited institution
- Knowledge of anesthetic techniques (general, regional, local)
- Basic knowledge of all equipment used for patient care in a surgery setting
- High level of critical thinking and assessment skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and respond to rapidly changing, sometimes acute patient care needs
- Professional appearance and demeanor
Desired Qualifications
- Previous Ambulatory Surgery OR Pre- and Post Op, Circulator, and/or PACU experience preferred
- Experience in continuous quality improvement and/or Lean Six Sigma preferred
- Proficient in Windows and Microsoft applications, and electronic medical record (EMR) experience preferred
