Job Summary
Administer medications to residents while accurately recording administration, observing ingestion, and reporting complications or adverse side effects to the Resident Care Director. Monitor the Medication Management Program by storing, counting, and auditing controlled substances, restocking inventories, and re-ordering from the pharmacy. Document vital signs, refusals, and shift-to-shift updates on the Daily Shift to Shift Communication Log, ensuring all actions comply with state licensing standards and company policies. Maintain a safe environment by inspecting equipment, practicing infection control, and assisting high-risk residents with physical needs.
Required Qualifications
- Successfully completed course work and examinations to obtain certification as a Resident Care Associate
- Obtain continuing education credits as required by the state to maintain certification as an RMA
- Possess knowledge of safe medication administration techniques
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe medication administration techniques through a competency skills evaluation
- CPR and First Aid certified
- Willing to obtain CPR and First Aid certification as per company policy
- Understand and practice resident confidentiality
- Have the ability to work weekends and flexible hours as needed for resident care and services
- Show sincere compassion and demonstrate genuine concern for the physical and emotional needs of seniors and their families
- Be proficient in basic office equipment, including a personal computer
- Be able to lift, stoop, carry, turn, and assist high-risk residents
- Be able to push medication carts
- Be willing and able to work a flexible work schedule
- Be able to sit, stand, bend, and move continuously during work hours
- Be able to lift and/or carry 50 to 75 pounds
