Registered Medication Associate (RMA)
Job Summary
Registered Medication Associate (RMA) provides medication administration and resident-care services in a long-term care setting. Responsibilities include monitoring and safe delivery of the Medication Management Program, administering medications as prescribed, documenting administration and resident responses, observing for adverse effects, maintaining accurate medication inventories and records, conducting shift communications, supervising as needed, ensuring infection control and safety practices, and maintaining a professional demeanor while supporting residents and families. The role requires state certification as a Resident Care Associate, ongoing continuing education, CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain, ability to work weekends and flexible hours, and physical ability to lift and move residents and supplies. The position is offered in Abingdon, Virginia with in-person duties for either full-time or part-time schedules, including evening shifts and rotating weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Certification as a Resident Care Assistant/Resident Care Associate
- Continuing education credits as required by state for RMA certification
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
- Knowledge of safe medication administration techniques
- Ability to work weekends and flexible hours
- Proficiency with basic office equipment and computers
- Ability to lift 50-75 pounds; ability to assist with residents
- Familiarity with Universal Precautions and OSHA standards
