Job Summary
The Registered Mammography Technologist performs high-quality breast imaging and DEXA procedures in accordance with ARRT, ACR, and MQSA guidelines. Responsibilities include operating breast imaging equipment, selecting appropriate exposure factors, assisting the radiologist with invasive breast procedures, documenting patient history, ensuring radiation safety, providing patient education and discharge instructions, and participating in quality improvement activities. Requires ARRT diagnostic radiology registration, (preferred) mammography modality registration, BLS, and an associate-level degree from an ARRT-accredited program. The role emphasizes patient-centered care within a collaborative interprofessional team in the Women’s Center setting. Location at Harbour View Medical Center in Suffolk, VA.
Required Qualifications
- Certification and Registration with ARRT in Diagnostic Radiology (required)
- Advanced modality registration in Mammography, ARRT (preferred, or must obtain within 1 year)
- State Licensure (preferred, unless required by the state where the job is being performed)
- BLS Basic Life Support, American Heart Association (required at hire for Roper St Francis Healthcare locations; preferred at hire, required prior to independent patient care at BSMH)
- 1 year experience as a registered mammography technologist (preferred)
- Education: Associate's from an ARRT accredited institute (preferred)
