Job Summary
Plan, implement, and evaluate developmentally appropriate activities while establishing a daily schedule that balances active and quiet, indoor and outdoor experiences. Organize learning equipment prior to sessions and assist children in expressing themselves through meaningful dialogue and interactive questioning. Utilize teaching techniques including modeling, observing, and demonstrating to extend conversations and reinforce learning. Maintain a safe, inclusive environment by complying with patient and staff safety policies and demonstrating empathy in all interactions. Requires a two-year Early Childhood Education Diploma, OCECE registration, and current BCLS certificate. Full-time role with potential site rotation across Mackenzie Health locations.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a two year Early Childhood Education Diploma program or equivalent, approved by the Ministry of Community and Social Services
- Registered Member of the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators (OCECE)
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certificate
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to discern relevant information to make effective judgments and decisions to manage care
- Computer literacy in a Windows environment utilizing Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook at a senior level, as well as a good understanding of PageMaker, Access, Quattro Pro, and Scheduling Systems
- Proven attendance record
- Demonstrates understanding and complies with patient and staff safety policies and procedures that foster a safe and inclusive environment for all
- Ability to perform the essential duties of the job
- Effectively uses empathy in interactions with others
