Job Summary
Conduct thorough patient assessments to evaluate nutritional status and identify specific needs. Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans aligned with medical diagnoses and treatment goals. Provide specialized counseling on weight loss, tube feeding, and dietary modifications for chronic conditions. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate care strategies and optimize patient recovery. Monitor patient progress through regular evaluations and adjust nutrition plans accordingly. Educate patients and families on nutrition principles, dietary restrictions, and lifestyle changes for improved health outcomes. Utilize electronic medical record (EMR) systems to document assessments, care plans, and progress notes accurately. Supervise dietetic interns or junior staff members to ensure quality standards are maintained in dietary practices. Stay current with advancements in dietetics, physiology, and clinical nutrition to enhance service delivery. Support medical initiatives related to acute care, geriatrics, weight management, and long-term care programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in nutrition, dietetics, or a related field
- ACEND-accredited supervised practice program (minimum of 1,000 hours)
- Completion of ACEND-accredited program coursework
- Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) license
- Experience in hospital or healthcare settings preferred
- Knowledge of physiology related to digestion, metabolism, and disease processes affecting nutritional needs
- Experience with EMR systems for documentation and care coordination purposes
