Job Summary
Assess, re-assess, and document nutrition needs for in-patients within specified timeframes, implementing Medical Nutrition Therapy to optimize patient outcomes. Manage menu planning, input nutrition support orders, and conduct tray evaluations while participating in physician rounds, discharge planning, and multidisciplinary team conferences. Provide individual and group nutrition education based on patient learning readiness and complete monthly productivity logs and quality improvement projects. Communicate effectively with patients, medical staff, and department personnel to address requests and complaints, utilizing electronic medical record systems for all clinical activities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- 1-3 years related experience in clinical or public health nutrition
- DIETICIAN-Registered Dietitian Certification - CDR - Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Effective communication skills in both oral and written form
- Ability to delegate responsibility as appropriate
- Ability to exercise good independent judgment
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Process the ability to assess data reflecting the patient's status and interpreting appropriate information
- Demonstrates knowledge of disease specific and age specific nutrition standards of care
- Demonstrates understanding of Local, State, Federal and The Joint Commission standards and regulations
- Competency with computer system for order entry and to update diet and patient information
- Understanding of how to use most current version of on-line Nutrition Care Manual
- Ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and other IT/software systems
- Must pass a pre-employment drug test
