Job Summary
Assess resident nutrition status using laboratory data and fluid status, then evaluate, interpret, and modify plans of care to deliver nutrition services. Routinely conduct meal rounds, test trays, and menu checks while accurately assessing and managing enteral nutrition care. Prepare residents for self-management, consult with the Food Service Director on therapeutic diets, and assist in developing Quality Assurance and Improvement processes. Make referrals to other healthcare providers as necessary and report resident condition changes or care issues to nursing supervisors. Maintain awareness of updated standards and incorporate them into practice while participating in facility inspections.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university in the United States
- Completion of a program in nutrition or dietetics with the appropriate national accreditation
- Certification as a dietitian or nutrition professional in NY State
- Master's degree with emphasis in nutrition
- One to three years' direct care experience
- One to two years' experience in long-term care
- Certification in dietetics-nutrition in New York State
- Successful completion of the Registered Dietitian examination offered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration
- Certified Nutrition Specialist exam offered by the Certification Board for Nutrition Specialists
- Covid 19 Vaccine
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree with emphasis in nutrition preferred from an accredited program
