Job Summary

Correlate patient clinical history with requested examinations and consult staff physicians regarding pertinent medical history and preliminary diagnoses. Perform a full range of diagnostic ultrasonic examinations including obstetrical, pelvic, abdominal, thoracic, small parts, pediatric, and vascular sonography. Operate Sonography equipment, conduct daily warm-ups, quality-control checks, and system calibrations per manufacturer and MTF policies. Identify abnormalities, recognize anatomic variants, and differentiate artifacts from pathological processes. Explain procedures to patients, instruct them on positioning, and assist with special preparation requirements. Document arrival, departure, and completed tests; send image series to radiologists and advise on significant scans requiring immediate attention. Initiate emergency measures for critical situations such as respiratory or cardiac arrest.

Required Qualifications

  • Certificate
  • Graduate from an academic program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
  • Certified by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) in the specialty identified in the TO
  • One year of experience within the last two years as a sonographer in the specialty area identified in the TO
  • Basic computer skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Sunday through Saturday including Federal Holidays
  • between the hours of 0700 – 0659
  • an 8.5- or 12.5-hour shift, or combination of both
  • 30-minute uncompensated meal break
  • In no instance will HCW be required to provide services in excess of 80 hours per 2-week period
