Job Summary
Conduct thorough dental assessments, review medical histories, and evaluate oral health conditions. Perform screenings for oral cancer and diseases, administer professional cleanings including scaling and root planning, and remove plaque and tartar. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, nutritional counseling, and preventive measures like fluoride treatments and sealants. Collaborate with the dentist to develop treatment plans, assist in diagnosing periodontal diseases, and take dental X-rays while ensuring radiation safety compliance. Maintain accurate patient records, document clinical notes, and adhere to strict infection control protocols. Sterilize dental instruments and equipment.
Required Qualifications
- Degree from an accredited dental hygiene program
- Current and valid state dental hygiene license
- Proficient in performing dental cleanings and other preventive procedures
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of dental anatomy, oral pathology, and periodontal diseases
- Familiarity with dental instruments and equipment
- Certification in dental radiography
- Competence in taking dental X-rays
- Adherence to ethical standards and patient confidentiality
- Commitment to continuing education and staying current on industry trends
