Job Summary

Assess dental conditions and risk using patient screening procedures, including medical history review, perio-charting, and vital signs. Document dental history, chief complaints, and patient reactions; record pertinent observations and treatment outcomes. Provide chair-side assistance for special tests, complex treatments, and emergency measures during adverse developments. Deliver direct patient care including cleaning, polishing, x-rays, sealant application, and impression taking under dentist supervision. Initiate oral health education, prevention activities, and individualized care plans while reviewing and interpreting dental records. Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharge processes; maintain equipment and perform office duties like triage and reception. Support Mobile Dental Services by traveling to offsite locations. Requires a valid CA Registered Dental Assistant license, X-Ray license, and BLS certification. Temporary full-time position ending November 2026.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Valid CA Registered Dental Assistant license
  • Valid X-Ray license
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)- Approved source
  • In-person, hands-on skills check with a certified instructor using a mannequin to demonstrate CPR and emergency response techniques
  • One year of registered dental assisting or related experience

Desired Qualifications

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or (English/Arabic)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition, typing and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge and understanding of dental terminology
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Knowledgeable about and experience with full scope dentistry procedures and oral radiographic services, known as six handed dentistry
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Applications, eCW, and Sidexis
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner
