Job Summary
Conduct preliminary oral health evaluations, including charting, occlusion classification, and myofunctional assessments. Perform clinical duties such as cord retraction, sizing endodontic points, placing direct restorations, adjusting permanent indirect restorations, applying sealants, and taking final impressions for removable prosthesis and crowns. Assist dentists during treatments, prepare exam rooms, sterilize instruments following infection control protocols, and enter patient data into electronic medical records. Provide post-treatment oral care instructions to patients under dentist direction. Maintain licensure with the Dental Board of California and manage patient files.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- RDA license
- Successful completion of a Board approved RDAEF program
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, complete short correspondence, and memos
- Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to clients and other employees of the organization
- Ability to perform mathematical skills necessary for medication administration
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Good people skills
- Ability to deal with patients in a kind, compassionate manner
- Ability to deal with unhappy patients or difficult situations
- Professional and courteous demeanor
