Job Summary
The Dental Assistant supports the Dentist in patient care and treatment, performing clinical tasks under supervision. Responsibilities include assisting during clinical procedures, documenting patient communications, taking and recording vitals, completing dental charting, and adhering to infection control protocols. Required qualifications include a high school diploma, state Radiology Certification, and experience through externships. Organizational skills, effective communication, and a commitment to patient confidentiality (HIPAA) are essential. A full-time position requiring flexibility and interaction with a diverse patient population.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- State of Michigan Radiology Certification required within 60 days of employment.
- Externship / internship / apprenticeship applicable.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, chair-side techniques, and dental insurances/prior authorizations.
- Organized and detailed.
- Effective communication skills.
- Efficient typing and computer skills.
- Able to work independently and as a team member.
- Flexible in day-to-day duties and responsibilities.
- Protects patients’ rights by maintaining confidentiality (HIPAA) of personal and financial information.
- Ability to communicate effectively with, and relate to, a diverse population in a professional manner.
- Capable of taking initiative in day-to-day responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal and written skills.
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Two (2) years of dental assisting experience is preferred.

- Consistent attendance is required for this position.
