Job Summary
The Registered Dental Assistant/Dental Assistant provides chair-side assistance to the dentist in clinical procedures, maintains accurate dental charting, and ensures compliance with infection control policies. Responsibilities include taking diagnostic radiographs, preparing treatment trays, providing patient education, and documenting vital signs during visits. Requires effective communication with a diverse patient population and coordination with coworkers. The position demands physical ability to perform various tasks, such as lifting and maintaining an organized workspace.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- State of Michigan Radiology Certification required within 60 days of employment
- Externship / internship / apprenticeship applicable
- Knowledge of dental terminology, chair-side techniques, and dental insurances/prior authorizations
- Organized and detailed work skills
- Effective communication skills
- Efficient typing and computer skills
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Flexible in day-to-day duties and responsibilities
- Ability to maintain confidentiality (HIPAA) of personal and financial information
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desired Qualifications
- Certificate of completion from an accredited dental assisting program preferred
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
- Two (2) years of dental assisting experience preferred
