Job Summary
Charge Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care at Unity Health Care Department of Corrections Health Center (CDF/CTF) under Nurse Manager, supervising nursing personnel, and promoting continuity of nursing services. Responsibilities include serving as the senior nursing administrator on site during off shifts, supporting DC Board of Nursing standards, evaluating nursing staff, and providing input to Nurse Manager on clinical/administrative matters across day, evening, night, and weekend shifts. The role administers the methadone clinic/Opiate Treatment Program (CDF charge nurse) and contributes to applying research and quality improvement findings to practice. Requires RN licensure in DC and a strong background in acute/ambulatory care with leadership responsibilities. Night shift, weekend coverage, and part-time scheduling are indicated.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing – AAS, Diploma, BSN
- Licensed or eligibility as an RN in Washington DC
- Three (3) years of experience as a RN
- Five (5) years of experience in acute care (i.e., ED, ICU, Med/Surg) and/or ambulatory care
- Two (2) years of Nursing experience as a Charge Nurse
