Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist serves as a primary assistant to physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures such as cardiac catheterizations, angioplasties, and electrophysiology studies in the cath lab. They operate and monitor advanced imaging and hemodynamic equipment, ensure sterile technique, prepare patients, monitor in real time, document procedures, coordinate post-procedure care, and administer medications under physician direction. The role supports HIPAA compliance, participates in on-call rotation with rapid response, and contributes to quality assurance and process improvement initiatives in a multidisciplinary cardiovascular team. This is a full-time, day-shift position with on-call requirements (approximately 15 on-call days per month) at Sentara CarePlex Hospital in Hampton, VA. Education and certification requirements include a health-science degree (diploma/associate/bachelor level), RCIS, BLS, and ACLS within 90 days of hire.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of a diploma, associate, or bachelor level program in health science (includes cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, or nursing) (Required)
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) (Required)
- BLS (Required)
- ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire
